The glorious Severn Way with its historic churches and taking a lesson in napping from Ollie

Last week my friend Nell gave me about 2 days warning to prepare for a 13 mile walk from Tewkesbury Abbey to Gloucester Cathedral, to raise funds for Christian Aid.  And so it was that on Saturday morning we set off with a spring in our step, to walk, in glorious sunshine,  alongside the Severn with frequent stops to see lovely village churches along the way.  It truly seemed like a pilgrimage on what had to be the most marvellous day of the whole year.  So, thank you Nell and Pat for your lovely company and for a far and wide ranging conversation, covering everything from Kindle Books with appalling grammatical errors, to “let’s do the sponsored bicycle ride for Historic Churches next September” (I hardly dare confess to Nell that my much loved bicycle only has 3 gears and is about 25 years old!) to walking Offa’s Dyke together ….

Anyway, as a result of Saturday’s walk,

I had to follow Ollie’s example and take to my bed early …!
